Welcome to Biology

James Watson asserted that ‘biology has at least another 50 interesting years’. From one the scientists who elucidated the molecular structure of DNA, and has already experienced and participated in over 50 years of incredible progress in biology since then, it is perhaps an underestimation. The future, your generation, will be the ones who will discover the cure to cancer, to solve the problems of feeding the ever growing human population, of designing the organisms which will remove pollutants from our biosphere, and the find the way forwards for stem cell therapies to make breakthroughs in medical treatments. There is no more exciting time to be a biologist, and the excitement will surely last longer than Professor Watson’s prediction.

The examination board for GCSE biology from September 2016 is Edexcel and for A Level biology is CIE.
